Someone who won’t be a part of the Michael Jackson Memorial later on today will be his close friend Elizabeth Taylor. She explained why via her Twitter page. Saying:
“I’ve been asked to speak at the Staples Center. I cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word. I just don’t believe that Michael would want me to share my grief with millions of others. How I feel is between us. Not a public event. I said I wouldn’t go to the Staples Center and I certainly don’t want to become a part of it. I love him too much.”
On one hand I can totally understand where she is coming from but on the other hand why not go and speak? This is to remember him in a positive light. Either way, this memorial will definitely be one of a kind. Peep the confirmed on stage appearances:
Ron Boyd (family friend); Kobe Bryant; Mariah Carey; Andrae Crouch Choir; Berry Gordy; Jennifer Hudson; Shaheen Jafargholi (finalist on Britain’s Got Talent); Magic Johnson; Martin Luther King III; Bernice A. King; John Mayer; Lionel Richie; Smokey Robinson; Rev. Al Sharpton; Brooke Shields; Pastor Lucious Smith (family friend); Usher; and Stevie Wonder.
Not to mention all the ones in the audience like, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Tyrese and lots more!
