During the past few months, she may have been busy touring overseas but Rihanna will soon hit the road again in the States alongside Ke$ha for her ‘Last Girl on Earth’ tour. While the tour doesn’t begin until July 2nd, Live Nation has announced that two of the dates have been cancelled. Before you go jumping on the ‘poor sales’ bandwagon, rumors are circulating that Riri has nixed the two dates due to the new immigration laws. Phoenix’s controversial new laws which will go into effect by the end of July will enforce police to request immigration documentation from anyone they have a “reasonable suspicion†might be in the illegally residing in United States. (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ynews/20100427/ts_ynews/ynews_ts1812) And if the theory holds up, Rihanna isn’t the only artist to take a musical holt in protest of the recently impending laws as Pitbull and Cypress Hill.
Live Nation has yet to release an official statement regarding the cancelled dates but if you’ve purchased tickets for either of the dates, contact them immediately. Rihanna’s ‘Last Girl on Earth’ tour has been deemed a “must see†event in 2010 by USA Today.
