Nick Ashford, one-half of songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson, died on Monday, at the age of 70. Longtime friend and former publicist, Liz Rosenberg announced that Ashford died in a New York City hospital. He had been suffering from throat cancer and had undergone radiation treatment, she said.
As a duo, Ashford & Simpson penned countless hits, such as: “Ain’t No Moutain High Enough”, “Solid As A Rock”, “I’m Every Woman” and many more. They were married for 38 years and had two daughters.
Our condolences go out to Valerie Simpson, his family and friends.
