It’s been two weeks since the release of Big Sean’s “Control”, the track in which Kendrick calls out just about every relevant rapper in the game. Every since then, we have heard responses to the verse from everyone and their moms but finally the self-proclaimed “King of New York” has something to say.
In an exclusive interview with Power 106’s – Big Boy’s Neighborhood, which is airing in its entirety tomorrow morning, the Compton rapper says, “Honestly I didn’t know there would be so much speculation behind it, I just wanted to rap…I think thats’s a case where I maybe had to dumb down my lyrics just alittle bit. The irony of that line is that the people that actually understood it was the actual kings of New York,” he said, explaining that the line is not meant to be taken literally.”Me sitting down with them this past week, and them understanding that it’s not actually about being the king of whatever coast, It’s about leaving a mark as great as Biggie or as great as Pac.”
In addition to his Power 106 appearance, he will also be stopping by Hot 97’s studio to appear on Peter Rosenberg’s morning show.
