With the NFL having it’s official kick-off of the new season yesterday, it was also confirmed that Bruno Mars will be next year’s Halftime takeover performer.
Over the weekend, the Los Angeles Times first speculated that the crooner would be tapped for Super Bowl XLVIII, with it being confirmed Sunday afternoon during the broadcast of NFL Sunday by Mars himself. Shortly after his announcement, a minute-long trailer chronicling the singer’s career highlights thus far was posted to Mars’ YouTube channel.
The singer recently delivered a phenomenal performance at last month’s MTV VMAs with his single “Gorilla,” so it will be interesting to see what he has in store for this coming February. Although Bruno Mars has not yet reached the career status of past legendary performers like Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, and Beyonce, the NFL and Pepsi have made a great choice in Mars’ selection.
Let’s hope New Jersey has their light bill current at the MetLife Stadium February 2nd.
