Vibe Magazine releases their 2012 sexy issue cover story featuring reality stars Evelyn Lozada (Basketball Wives), Kandi Burruss (Atlanta Housewives), Tamar Braxton (Braxton Family Values) and Chrissy Lampkin (Love and Hip Hop).

The ladies pose in all black-everything attire as they talk about being role models, their reality tv experiences and more. Check out the cover below and excerpts from the interview.

VIBE: Star Jones started a petition, lashing out against women and violence on reality TV. What’s your reaction?

Evelyn: [Bursts into laughter] I think she’s going to have to get a whole lot of names. Actually, I like the petition and I like the controversy because I’ve learned controversy is good. But I think she’s irrelevant. And she’s using our coattails to get relevant again. Nobody gives a fuck about her.

Chrissy: Whatever Star Jones is feeling is a little deeper than what she sees. I think she has her own issues.

Kandi: She may not be violent, but I’m sure she goes off on people in her day-to-day. I just don’t think it’s fair to block somebody from getting money.

What surprised you most about the reality TV experience?

Kandi: Being a part of Housewives brought me so many opportunities that I would’ve never imagined. With the Kandi Factory spin-off, it was a dream of mine to be on one of those shows developing artists, and here it is, I [have] my own show.

Evelyn: For me, it was that so many people cared. They’re so emotionally involved and interested with what’s going on in your life. I watch shows but I’m never like, “Let me find this person’s Twitter or Facebook page so I can comment.” Even before the show it just wasn’t me. But people get so emotionally involved with what you’re doing, what you’re saying, what you’re wearing, how you handle this situation, so that surprised me. You think everyone watches TV the way you watch TV.

Do any of you see yourselves as role models?

Chrissy: I guess if somebody is afraid to speak their mind and wanna stand up for themselves, then yes. I want people to realize that they can have whatever they want. You can be respected in your relationship exactly the way you want to be. It’s up to you to go get it. Some of the stuff is a little heavy, but you’re not going to be exposed to crazy situations in life just by watching reality TV. You can go to the corner store and see crazy shit going on. You can go to school and see crazy shit. Don’t put it all on me.

Kandi: You would never imagine how many people come up to me on the street: “How could you be a part of that? It’s a disgrace to Black people.” I’m on a show called Real Housewives and I’m not married so I guess I represent single mothers out there who are handling their business and trying to take things to the next level. So when people say, “You shouldn’t be on the show, it’s like, “Well, who do you want to go on there? More people you don’t like?”

Evelyn: As a parent I didn’t raise my daughter to look up to somebody on TV as a role model. I want her to look up to her mother, her family as role models. Also, I have nieces who watch the show and love it. So I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place because I’m being me but now I’m coming to the realization that I can’t do… I wouldn’t want my nine-year-old watching this, but their parents do. So I said to myself recently, “Young girls are watching the show. I really need to check myself.” Before reality TV was what it was, I had full control over my daughter’s television because you never know what they’re showing. Every parent isn’t like that. It’s not for me to judge but we’re talking a lot about sex; sometimes there are sexy scenes. I think it’s a little inappropriate, but regardless, I don’t think children should be looking up to reality TV stars as role models.

Rihanna was spotted in a pair of sexy black stilettos, ripped jeans and Ray Bans as she made her way to an awaiting helicopter in London.

The singer was on her way to the O2 Arena yesterday afternoon to attend Kanye West and Jay-Z’s Watch The Throne concert.

Rihanna was also invited on stage to join the rappers for a performance of “All Of The Lights” and “Run This Town”.

Singer Chaka Khan showed off her new slim and trim figure at the 40th Annual Fifi Awards in New York City last night. The Grammy-award winner recently agreed with fans, who tweeted that her weight loss made her resemble rapper Nicki Minaj.

Chaka Khan will perform a tribute to her friend, the late Whitney Houston at the Apollo Theater’s gala and awards ceremony in June.

Tank, Case & K. Michelle Present Stellar Performances at ATL Live on the Park

There was an explosive vocal showdown last week in Atlanta when R&B heavy-hitters Tank, Case and K. Michelle showcased their talents for an intimate audience of music lovers at ATL Live on the Park. Each headliner shared their lastest hits and revisited some good oldies. From jumping on speakers (Case) to sharing her rendition of Mary J’s “I’m Going Down” (K.
Michelle) and to singing, at times, without the assistance of a single musical note (Tank), the experience was like none other.

As the crowd rocked to the beats, the drinks and great-tasting food continued to flow. The night was filled with surprise guests as Keri Hilson, Floyd Mayweather, Jagged Edge, Chilli of TLC, Mishon, Dondria, R.L. of Next and cast members of VH1′s “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, including K. Michelle and Stevie J, attended the event, which provided live taping of a show set to premiere on June 18th.

It seems Atlanta is producing events that will assist in keeping R&B music alive and relevant. Hats of to music executives and the creators of ATL Live on the Park, Shanti Das and Marlon Nichols for an extraordinary event. Check out the live performances below:

Lil’ Kim brought her “The Return Of The Queen” tour to NYC last night to a packed house. The rapper performed many of her hits, which included ”No Time”, “Lighters Up”, “All About The Benjamins” and more.

VH1 reality stars Somaya Reece (Love and Hip Hop) Drita Davanzo, Rappers Missy, Eve, Pepa and more were on hand to support the Queen Bee.

Kim tore the house down!! I’m glad she’s getting the shine she rightfully deserves.

Lil’ Kim’s “The Return Of The Queen Tour” made a memorable stop at the Paradise Theater in NYC last night. The pint-sized emcee surprised the audience by bringing out VH1 “Mob Wives” star Drita Davanzo, to rap her infamous verse on “All About The Benjamins”.

I bet you’re wondering if Drita delivered, huh? She damn sure did! With her serious face on and her “rap idol” backing her up, Drita exuded confidence much like a seasoned MC would. The crowd ate it up.

Behind the Scenes: Tamia’s “Beautiful Surprise” Video

Tamia recently filmed the music video for her new single “Beautiful Surprise”. The Ryan Pallota-directed clip sees her husband Grant Hill, make an appearance. The two have been together for 15 years, but this marks the first time he’s appeared in one of her music videos.

Tamia’s forthcoming album, ‘Beautiful Surprise’ is expected to be released later this year.
